The Barn at West Farm Wedding

The Barn at West Farm Wedding

What a fantastic day at this gorgeous The Barn at West Farm wedding Set on the cliffs at Ogmore by Sea, South Wales, The Barn at West Farm is an amazing venue – especially when the sun shines! Gwenno and Richard had just about the most perfect day, we loved being there!! Our local knowledge came in handy for a quick side trip to our favourite photo spot just down the coast. The wedding was also featured in the Spring issue of Your South Wales Wedding magazine. Our first stop was in Cowbridge for the Bride and Groom preparation pictures, the apartments above Penny Farthing Café are perfect for the girls. Town and Country (they have The Bear Hotel amongst others) also have other apartments, ideal for the boys. We headed off to Ogmore by Sea to catch the guests arriving and waited for the arrival of the bride – quite a long time! The wait was worth it, of course, Gwenno and the bridesmaids looked absolutely beautiful. A packed barn watched a delightful bi-lingual ceremony and everyone joined in to sing the beautiful Welsh folk song Ar Lan y Môr. The special thing about The Barn at West Farm is that the reception is held in a very pretty marquee, tucked at the rear of the building. It looks out across the sea to the hills of Exmoor on the North Somerset coast. Quite a spectacular location for a wedding! Hensol Castle Wedding Photographers

Hensol Castle Wedding Photographers

Hensol Castle Wedding Photographers This Summer as Hensol Castle Wedding Photographers we had the enormous pleasure of photographing several Hensol Castle Weddings. We will share some more of them over the next few weeks. The Hensol Castle wedding of Victoria and Oliver was a particularly splendid wedding with the ceremony set in Holy Cross Church in Cowbridge. A magnificent reception followed at Hensol Castle and was photographed by Hensol Castle Wedding Photographers, Martin and Jules Phillips. We are delighted to share our pictures of Victoria and Oliver’s wedding day. It all started at the family house, then moved on to Holy Cross church in Cowbridge for the main event. The rain was biblical for the guest arrivals, a flood in the road outside church tested the ingenuity of the ushers to the limit. Luckily the limit for ex Millfield boys is pretty high! Here’s Martin and our favourite videographer Richard Shelton of Aurora Films getting quite soggy, waiting for Victoria’s Arrival. …and a shot of Jules once the Sun had come out! Victoria and her Dad arrived, delayed only slightly as they tried to leave the house in the rain storm. Then, at last, the sun began to shine and gave us one of the best days of the Summer. Hensol Castle just gets better and better each year, it looks truly spectacular in the Summer sunshine. Each time we visit there have been more improvements to the building. There were huge swathes of very beautiful flowers everywhere, thanks to Hilary’s Flowers of Abergavenny. Thanks also to Liz Jones of Chair Covers and Bows for the amazing tables and chairs decorations. It all started with a rainstorm in Cowbridge and ended with a glorious sunset at Hensol Castle. It’s definitely one of our favourite wedding venues in...
Barn at West Farm Wedding

Barn at West Farm Wedding

Barn at West Farm Wedding, South Wales Italy, South of France? No, a wedding at the Barn at West Farm, Ogmore by Sea on the Heritage Coast, South Wales! Honestly, looking out over the sea from this awesome location it was easy to imagine that we were at another destination wedding abroad! The day started with a continental feel as we caught up with the girls to do some preparation photos in Cowbridge. They were staying in the Old Wine House above the Quarter Penny Cafe which overlooked the courtyard, where brunch was being served. The interior of The Old Wine House was great for taking prep shots and the tone was set for a fabulous day ahead. Bride and bridesmaids arrived in a VW camper van at the lovely village Church of St. John the Baptist in Llanblethian where the vicar David Boult gave an amusing, sincere and memorable wedding Ceremony. I love it when brides provide confetti, it always makes for such lovely images at a Church wedding, after all this is what it’s all about, showering the happy couple with love. The Barn at West Farm is a glorious location and the marquee looked incredible!!! Rebecca and Daniel must have been planning and working on the details for months, what a beautiful scene to greet their family and friends and a treasure trove for us to photograph too. It had to be something special to tempt the guests away from enjoying the prosecco and ambience outside. One of the perks of our job is when we get to relax with a lovely meal by Town and Country...
Llanerch Vineyard Wedding

Llanerch Vineyard Wedding

Llanerch Vineyard Wedding Photographer Vale of Glamorgan It’s always great to reconnect with a couple who we first met at a wedding fayre long ago and be with them to share their wedding day. Stephen and his groomsmen strolled along the country lane towards the historic St Mary’s Church in Marshfield, Cardiff, The church is also famous in more recent times for the filming of the Doctor Who christmas special “The End of Time” in 2009 where it was used for Donna’s wedding. After a hearty breakfast at Stephen and Susannah’s house, they were there to support Stephen on his big day. The girls arrived a little late, but hey, when you have a tiny baby to plan for as well as a wedding, anything can happen. Susannah looked incredibly happy and with her bridesmaids around her as she made her way into Church. After a very special Ceremony and lots of hugging and congratulations outside Church, the wedding party made their way to Llanerch Vineyard in the Vale of Glamorgan, where guests were greeted with delicious welcome drinks and canapés amongst the vines. This was a real family wedding with lots of lovely children, who clearly enjoyed the celebrations as much as the adults. Susannah and Stephen managed to tear themselves away from all the fun for a short walk around the lake with us in the early evening and enjoyed a little romantic time away from everyone (well almost everyone!) for some magical photographs amongst the wilder side of the Vineyard.       Llanerch Vineyard Wedding for Susannah and...
Downton Abbey Style Merthyr Mawr Wedding

Downton Abbey Style Merthyr Mawr Wedding

Downton Abbey Style Merthyr Mawr Wedding Standing in those idyllic country lanes with thatched cottages and horse riders passing by, what could be more perfect than the arrival of Rebecca in her vintage car. It was such a fabulous sunny location for the wedding of this lovely couple and we had great fun with them when we went down the lane to Candelston Castle for their romantic post wedding photos. They were greeted into the car park by the Ospreys, who just happened to be there on a training session – it all adds to the excitement!! The reception at the Coed-y-Mwstwr Hotel, near Coychurch was really lovely as it was a fairly small wedding party, they were able to use the Eliot Restaurant which looked very stylish. Just perfect for an intimate and elegant wedding breakfast. Rebecca and Jonathan had a clear idea of the style of wedding and photography they wanted and together we created some truly memorable moments. We really enjoyed this wedding and found out that we had lots of connections with the lovely families on both sides and even with the vicar! Its a small world. Feeling the love this wedding season…   Downton Abbey Style Merthyr Mawr...
Wonderful Welsh Wedding

Wonderful Welsh Wedding

Wonderful Welsh Wedding by South Wales Wedding Photographer Sardis Chapel in Waunarlwydd was already bustling with family, guests and excited well wishers when we arrived. We knew that we were in for a proper Welsh village wedding and we were not disappointed. The Chapel looked a picture with huge lavender bushes lining the entrance, fabulous flowers adorning the door way and a flower garland above the pulpit. Thanks to Ruth Milton-Jones for making the scene so pretty with her inspired flower arrangements. I’ve lost count of how many button holes I’ve put on this year already, this group really needed some help!! Lowri and Simon are obviously a much loved couple and the crowds outside the Chapel almost outnumbered the congregation inside! Jeffrey Morgan, the Minister delivered a very personal wedding ceremony and the atmosphere inside that little Welsh Chapel was memorable. The magnificent Orangery at Margam Park was the setting for the reception and some really gorgeous photographs. We particularly loved Lowri’s magnificent hairstyle… Then there was the cake, what can we say, it looked and tasted divine. Possibly the most beautiful cake we have seen in a while. Yes, finally we got to take some cake home and it was to die for, I can see where the name comes from – Heavenly Cakes – of Llandeilo.     Wonderful Welsh Wedding by South Wales Wedding...
